   We would like you to know more about our agency and staff.  MCHHCPH was established in 1969, with 20 home care aides, 2 nurses and 1 office staff. We now have 5 nurses, 13 home care aides and 5 office staff. Mitchell County Board of Health is our governing body. We are Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield certified, we have contracts with a variety of additional insurance companies and service providers, such as Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and the Elderbridge Area Agency on Aging. 
 
You can receive services even if you are not “homebound”.  There are a variety of service programs. We also have grant dollars to support additional home visit programs.  Services are available to anyone residing in Mitchell County, with no age restrictions. Referrals can be made by doctors, friends, neighbors, family, or self. 
 
  Mitchell County Home Health Care/Public Health offers other programs in addition to home visits: Immunization Clinics, Screening Clinics, Community Health Assessment, Foot Care Clinics, Case Management for Elderly, Maternal Health, Tobacco Use Prevention program, Parenting Education, Sexual Abuse Prevention Education, Iowa Breast and Cervical Cancer prevention, Communicable disease assessment and treatment such as TB and Flu clinics, Public Health Bio-Emergency planning for the county (includes planning and preparing for natural and terrorist emergency events), Hawki insurance (insurance program for underinsured children) coordination, Lead Screening for children, and Community Education programs.
 
Awards & Recognitions
** In March 2005, IFMC (Iowa Foundation for Medical Care) awarded MCHHCPH recognition for improvement in pain interfering with activity.   Our agency was 1 of 38 agencies from a total of 170.

** In November 2006, we were notified by IFMC that our agency is one of the 20 in Iowa to achieve a benchmark improvement in Acute Care Hospitalization.  Also, in November 2006, OCS Inc awarded MCHHCPH recognition for quality of care, quality improvement, financial performance for beign in the top 25% of Home Care Agenacies in the Nation.
